It’s been a wild ride becoming a mum and moving to another country at the same time. I gave up my career and my friends and family were far away, it was just me and Miguel and a new baby and a dilapidated cave house! But I’ve made the best of it, grown stronger and evolved into another, different version of myself. We’ve lived on GC for a while now and we love to We’ve lived on GC for a while now and we love to recommend some of our favourite spots to guests who ask for recommendations of where to visit. These are some of the most popular tourist spots, perhaps I’ll post some off-the-beaten-track places in another post. #1 Bodega los Berrazales, Agaete. Our inspiration for what we do! So many fruits and plants growing here, the climate in this valley is better than ours, but we’re trying our best! such an inspiring place and for a small fee you can try out their wines and coffee! #2 Tejeda, our closest town and always worth a visit. Try the Palmeras, a local delicacy and absolutely delicious from Dulces de Tejeda! #3 Pico de las Nieves. A viewpoint not to be missed with almost 360 views around the island and views out to other islands on a clear day. Perhaps more special are the forests on the way up to this spot, take a picnic and have a wander off the main paths, totally magical! #4 Caldera de Bandama is a great hiking spot, situated in the circular ‘caldera’ left behind after volcanic eruptions. Now full of trees and plants, and with a winery at its entrance, this is a perfect day out! #5 Dunas de Maspalomas are located in the south of the island and are an incredible desert landscape to explore. Great for photoshoots too! Tucked away in a hidden courtyard inside the bakery is this wonderful little patio where you can enjoy the most delicious meats and local dishes. #3 Patio Canario, Puerto de Mogan. We’ve been coming to this restaurant overlooking the boats for well over a decade now and the food is always excellent. Great, traditional Canarian tapas and friendly service too! #4 La Marinera, La Puntilla, Las Palmas. Another restaurant we’ve been visiting for years, if you like fresh fish and seafood, this is your place! #5 La Vaquería, Arinaga. Another quirky restaurant with vintage decor, you can see what sort of places we like! Have you ever felt like you’re just too busy all Have you ever felt like you’re just too busy all the time? I always hear my friends telling me how busy they are, and I used to say it a lot too. Honestly I think life is busy, we still have lots to do, but it’s super important that we’re present in these moments too. Life goes by in the blink of an eye and if we’re not enjoying the busyness of it all we’ll be missing out. When we slow down and start enjoying the little moments, they don’t need to be calm ones, but just being truly present for them, we can start to feel like we’re actually living in our lives and not just hurrying through it waiting to be less busy! Sometimes when my kids are playing up and the house is chaos I try to soak up the moment rather than wishing it away. They’re growing so fast that soon enough they’ll be out and I’ll be craving their chaos and noise in the house! When I’m being particularly organised I like to When I’m being particularly organised I like to batch cook a few bits and bobs for the freezer, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than being able to grab a quick soup for dinner at the last minute. Especially in winter!! This recipe is one I’ve been making recently and it’s super simple but really delicious!! Let me know if you make it! #carrotandcoriandersoup #batchcooking #homegrown #ourallotment #fromgardentotable * 1 tbsp vegetable oil * 1 onion chopped * 1 tsp ground coriander * 1 potato chopped * 450g carrots peeled and chopped * 1.2l vegetable or chicken stock * handful coriander Step 1 - Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large pan, add 1 chopped onion, then fry for 5 mins until softened.

Step 2 - Stir in 1 tsp ground coriander and 1 chopped potato, then cook for 1 min.
 Step 3 - Add the 450g peeled and chopped carrots and 1.2l vegetable or chicken stock, bring to the boil, then reduce the heat.

Step 4 - Cover and cook for 20 mins until the carrots are tender.

Step 5 - Tip into a food processor with a handful of coriander then blitz until smooth. Garnish with the fresh coriander to serve.

It’s a cold and misty day up in the mountains, s It’s a cold and misty day up in the mountains, so we’ll be staying in, keeping warm and enjoying some activities together in the cave house. I’ll do some baking this afternoon and the children will do some drawing or crafts, maybe Lego. If it stays dry this afternoon then we’ll wrap up warm and head over to the allotment. There’s loads of weeds at the moment that needs sorting out. We love lazy Sundays, inside or out. Rachael suggested he could try his own experiment, but with a practical outcome he could use. Inspired by the idea, he decided to mix flowers and leaves to create a perfume—a concept he absolutely adored. Yesterday, we got him some perfume bottles to store his creations, so he could gift them to his loved ones at school. We also helped him design labels, and he came up with the name ‘Leon the Alchemist’ for his new fragrance.
